Addison is one of three communities that sit in the crest of northern Dallas. We have Lived in & Loved Addison! The Dallas Independent School District has cooperative education, alternative schools, special education and gifted student programs.
The Carrollton-Farmer's Branch Independent School District places special emphasis on individual attention to meet the needs of students. The district offers award-winning vocational instruction; a progressive alternative school designed to re-interest potential dropouts, and a variety of special education courses. Twenty-two elementary schools, 6 junior high schools, 3 high schools, and an alternative school serve this area. The overall student-teacher ratio is 19:1, and one-half of the teachers have earned master's degrees.
Many private schools also are located in and around the area, including Trinity Christian Academy.
Brookhaven College, a Dallas County Community College, is located in Farmers Branch. Several colleges and universities are located within commuting distance to the area.
